Welcome to the Big Show. As dull as February is for sports fans, it does have one of my favorite things, the NBA Trade Deadline. This is the time of the year where teams that think they have a legitimate shot to win the title will make incredibly risky moves and will usually obtain a player that is to old or to lazy to really help them win said title. ( Jason Kidd) Most of the time the trades made at this point of the season have no real effect on the title. There is the rare occasion where the deal will make an impact ( Pau Gasol... O wait the Los Angeles Cry babies did not win the title last year. They lost to my Celts. Suck on that Kobe.)
This year there is a major exception to the rule stated above. Amare Stoudemire is on the trading block. Now I am not a huge Amare Stoudemire fan. He plays defense as well as A-rod deals with the media ( BTW. Most of you know that I hate A-rod. So when I can take a shot at him, even while totally going off topic, I will.) Whenever the announcers want to kiss up to him they say he is a great off the ball defender. Translation, he can not cover his man one on one so he gets blocks when he comes over late..However, Stoudemire is a top ten offensive player. He torched Tim Duncan (greatest power forward of all time) in the 2005 Western Conference Finals. For his career he averages 21 points and nearly 9 rebounds and he is only 26 years old... So why is Phoenix trading him ? I have no idea. They have decided that since trading for Shaq and firing there coach has not screwed up there franchise enough that now they should get rid of their best player. It makes no sense to me. I have a feeling that they will ultimately back off at the last minute and not make the deal.
If they do trade him a Suns fan should walk in to Steve Kerr's office and hit him over the head with a chair.
I have to say that hitting someone over the head with a chair is one of my great fantasy's . I wish I could get up from my desk right now and just walk over calmly to the 5 foot 115 pound girl next to me and say " O he has a chair. No don't do this. WHAM. O Come on she was defenseless and look at him laugh." How do you think that would go over. Seriously why do they have the chairs under the ring if the wrestlers always use them. The announcers are always shocked ." He is going under the ring , He has got a chair???"..
Now that I think about it, this Phoenix disaster is all Amare's fault. When Robert Horry slammed Stave Nash in to the scorers table WWE style during the playoffs Amare came running off the bench. He was suspended for game 5 of that series. I think that Phoenix would have won that championship if not for this moron coming off the bench. If your gonna run on to the court at least take a chair with you. If they win that series Dantoni is still the coach , Shawn Marion is still the small forward and Shaq is still chilling on south beach.
Its got to be really tough to be a Suns fan now a days. That team has come so close to winning a championship so many times and never got it done. They always choke down the stretch. It must be like being a Met fan. ( God I hate the Mets .. http://www.elifrombrooklyn.blogspot.com/) If they trade him for a bunch of expiring contracts they will never get back to the top of the league. The only thing that makes sense for them is maybe trading him to Portland and getting back Aldridge and Fernandez. Maybe to Chicago for an overrated Ben Gordon and a couple of draft busts like Tyrus Thomas or Kirk Heinrich .. Otherwise I don't know how you get equal value for a guy who just started in the All Star game on Sunday. ( Holy cow the guy in the cubicle next to the bleeding girl just took out his lunch and he is drinking a bud light. ( The difference is drinkability) That is awesome... Drunk at work. I guess it can't be worse then spending an hour writing a blog at work... Another shameless plug for our sponsor.. Bud Light)
BTW .. Arod is having his press conference in an hour or so ... Maybe Selena Roberts will hit him with a chair...One can only hope..
Coming at you on Thursday or Friday morning with some of my favorite NBA Trades of all time...

All chair/cheer the Big Show. Great piece. Great plug. Cannot wait for the blog on A-Slob...
ReplyDeleteESPN says a trade is unlikely, but Sporting News has rumors (unverified it seems) of a 3 team trade with Bosh going to the Bulls and Amare going to the Raptors.
ReplyDeleteI am also looking forward to your worst NBA draft picks list around summer time. ????Michael Olowokandi ????? Frederick Weis ????
ReplyDeletedon't mess with wrestling! John Cena for lifeeee!!!
ReplyDeletewhen did this chair fetish start? and im a stewie crowbar guy (where is my money man!!!) can we get crowbar plug pls and great a-r*d slam
ReplyDeleteA couple of thoughts, the chair thing is absolutely winning anytime you can use a chair for anything other than sitting on, go with it. worst draft picks of all time, Abe? Why that would be anyone Isiah has ever selected, (gd I miss that guy) and any Knicks draft pick from the last ten years. The Knicks awful drafting simply does not get enough press. It's not that they are bad, it's that they are so bad that they deserve their own blog. The Nets better not deal Vince but if they do I am sure it will turn out fine cuz Rod Thorn is the greatest GM in NBA history (See Marbury for Kidd, Then Kidd for Harris) and for what it's worth Mitch says Amare stays put. Keep em coming Stan, we are indeed all followers!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say Yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jianlian
ReplyDeleteAlso, the reason the Suns are evidently looking to get rid of him is because the owner is having a rough time with the recession (true story), and because David Stern (worst G.M. after Bettman) said the salry cap will be lowered, he is worried that he'll have to pay too much in luxury taxes, so he's looking to unload (much like the Marlins do every year, sorry Jake).
And once we're on the G.M. topic, Bud Selig is an embarrassment. Perhaps an idea for a piece Big Show?
amare to the raps? that should improve our defense immensely! thats exactly what the raps neeed! bring him on lol
